Our Youth program pairs Team Leaders, who act as role models and educators, with young people. There are strategies for working through a project and obtaining best results, and insightful activities that promote understanding. Together they find a way to harness their energy, creativity and resourcefulness to solve the problems in our community. If you are interested in finding out more about our Youth Programs, please contact Allison Clarke our Youth Volunteer Coordinator at the Volunteer Center of Racine County, Inc.: 6212 Washington Ave., Suite G or: teamLeader@volunteerracine.org 262-886-9612 x 107.
The Volunteer Center of Racine sponsors youth programming in three main ways. First, by utilizing the best practices of our affiliate organization, the Youth Volunteer Corps, we train young people ages 11-18 in non-profit work that stresses the values gained by becoming an active participant in our community. Second, we seek out activities and agencies who benefit directly from working with youth and these connections reinforce the incredible power community service contributes to improving the lives of others. And lastly, we strive to remain current in the needs in our community by posting opportunities on our website and annually producing the Youth Resource Booklet.
Other year round opportunities to volunteer include:
Eco Justice, Riverbend, Ridgewood Care Center and St. Monica’s Assisted Living Center and other YVC activities, usually on weekends. These are dependent on Team Leaders’ availability. Please check with the Volunteer Center for current activities.
Our annual fundraiser – the month of December every year – Volunteer to Gift Wrap at designated locations in Racine – generally starts the day after Thanksgiving and continues until Christmas Eve – lots of hours available!
Also take a look at the Volunteer Center’s home page for more opportunities.
All young people need to bring our Youth Waiver form the first time they volunteer at a YVC event, or we must have a copy on file prior to the event. Call and ask for Allison Clarke to get a form sent to you today!
