The Volunteer Center of Racine County, Inc. kicked off their “Step Forward and Volunteer” campaign on in January 2013. During the “Step Forward and Volunteer” campaign we hope to document the donated time of thousands of volunteers and hundreds of nonprofit agencies in Racine County. We are asking all agencies within Racine County to register with the Volunteer Center and join our current 5,500 members. With this data, we can compare our figures with the state’s and the nation’s volunteer statistics. We will turn the mirror on ourselves and recognize just what a giving community Racine County is. Wisconsin has moved to fifth in the nation for adult volunteerism. The national volunteer rate has reached its highest level since 2006, reflecting one in four adults in the U.S. volunteering 8 billion hours annually. We hope to record the donated time of all Racine County volunteers and their agencies, and add that information to the database of our current roster of more than 5,500 volunteers and over 200 agencies. VCRC will compare updated data with current statistics that currently rank Racine County’s volunteer participation rate at 25.9 percent, Wisconsin’s at 34.9 percent, and the National average of 26.5 percent. It’s easy to register online with the Volunteer Center of Racine County, Inc. (VCRC). To Register as a Volunteer go to www.volunteerracine.org then “Click Here to Register as a Volunteer” on the home page. You will be sent to the Volunteer Racine County Registration page.
